Participating Vets and Programs
The FOWAS Spay/Neuter program has been in operation since June of 2004 and has so far been a great success. Over 2,000 pets have been spayed or neutered because of this program! In addition to providing spay/neuter services for the pets of qualifying low income families of Watsonville, the program was extended in November of 2004 to include feral cats and domestic rabbits. Rabbits can be spayed/neutered at Aptos-Creekside Pet Hospital.
PLANNED PetHoodThe Santa Cruz County Animal Shelter’s PLANNED PetHood Spay and Neuter Program provides access to high quality, low-cost spay/neuter services for ALL resident dogs, cats and rabbits of Santa Cruz County. Sign-up must occure BEFORE the surgery date. All fees must be paid, and the check-in and surgery consent forms must be completed at the time of sign-up. FOWAS thanks these local veterinarians for making our Spay/Neuter Program possible. In this time of economic hardship, many pet owners have lost jobs, homes, and cars. These compassionate vets make it possible for low-income pet owners to spay and neuter their animals. We believe that pet owners should not need to postpone vet care because the mortgage payment is due. Helping these families actually lowers the number of animals surrendered to the shelter. We support responsible pet owners and we love the veterinarians who make this possible! |
